Fully Restored Complex of 5 Chestnut Mills for HOLIDAY LETTINGS WITH POOL AND LAND
Nestled in the foothills of the Apuan Alps, this stunning holiday complex, which is fully working, is now being offered for sale.
House 1 - the Millstone house
Named this because, during the restoration of the building, the owners found two large millstones in the basement which they then took outside to form part of the landscaping around the dwellings.
This is the largest of the buildings being built on 4 floors and having 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms each with a shower.
The house has three independent entrances making it very flexible in its use, however, the three floors are connected by an internal staircase.
One enters into a large, panoramic, sitting room with fireplace. Off this room is one of the double bedrooms with its bathroom.
Heading down to the lower floor, there is the room of the most character which is the taverna complete with stone walls, a pizza oven and a traditional kitchen,
Heading up to the first floor, this upper floor has its own entrance and even has a second kitchen allowing the building to be divided if desired. There are two more double bedrooms and a bathroom.
The top floor has another bedroom, bathroom and a gorgeous reading area to relax in the Winter.
House 2 - the Chestnut Drying Shed
This is where the fresh chestnuts would be stored and dried by laying them on a net halfway up the height of the building then lighting a fire on the lower floor.
Now the building has been restored into a cute suite for a couple. It has a full kitchen/living area with a pizza oven with a fold down bed currently to make it sleeping accommodation. The building has its own bathroom with shower.
Outside it has its own, south-facing terrace and BBQ from here there a step leading down to the stream that passes by giving a relaxing back drop. There is an orchard of fruit trees.
House 3 - The Childrens' House
This name was given to this building as, during the restoration, the owners found a statue of two children was spotted. The scupture is still there and this was the first of the buildings to be restored.
This house has three rooms, a kitchen/living space in which they have a sofabed. There is a double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower.
This has its own BBQ and terrace, behind it passes the "Rio Maggiore" providing the relaxing backdrop and providing the "sonna colonna" for your time there.
House 4 - The Mill
This is a noticable building as it still has the acquaduct visable, this provided the power to operate all the machinery when this was a working mill complex. It is slightly away from the other buildings and so could even be sold separately.
It has its own kitchen/living room with a fireplace, a bathroom with a shower but also a Minstrals' Gallery where a bedroom has been made.
Storage House
Even though this building is only used for storage, it is restored with as much care as the holiday homes. It also has plumbing for a kitchen and a bathroom.
The entire complex is set within trees and streams making it a place like "Heaven on Earth".
For the buyer, one can be assured that no short cuts were taken, that all permissions were sought and that the highest quality of builder and labour were used.
